A new working paper by Christian W. Martin (University of Kiel) and Nils D. Steiner (University of Mainz) is available here. The paper, titled "How electoral institutions change the influence of world trade integration on trade policies", was presented at the 72nd Midwest Political Science Association Annual Conference 2014 in Chicago, April 03-06 2014.

Call for Submissions – ECPR Graduate Student Conference, Political Methodology Section

We invite interested researchers to submit papers or full panels (with 3­–5 papers) to our section on Political Methodology at the ECPR Graduate Student Conference, taking place 3–5 July 2014.

 Submissions are encouraged to either focus entirely on methods, expanding existing or adopting new approaches, or showcasing creative uses of qualitative and/or quantitative approaches.

 Deadline for submissions is 20 January 2014.

Funding for Time & Timing Workshop

Members of the research group have been awarded a 2000€ grant by the Graduate Center of the CAU- Kiel to hold a workshop entitled Time & Timing in Political Science.Targeted to doctoral candidates, the workshop will take place in the fall term, with additional support from the Institute for the World Economy (IfW). Two new team members

We are thrilled to welcome two new additions to our team. Sybille Luhman (MPhil in Politics from the University of Cambridge, England) and Victor Cruz (MA in Public Management and Governance from the Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen) will join the research group starting September 1st. Sybille is interested in individual-level empirical tests of neo-functionalist theories while Victor will be working on the diffusion of norms in the international system and their strategic use by local elites. We are very much looking forward to our new team members and their contributions to the activities of the research group.
